Up until 1998, care labels were required to have written instructions on them. In 1998, that changed, and written instructions were no longer required if a symbol was provided to explain the best way to handle your laundry. Your care label will have one of the following symbols explaining how to wash it correctly:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bucket of water: Normal wash<\/li>\n<li>Bucket of water with one line underneath: Permanent press wash<\/li>\n<li>Bucket of water with two lines underneath: Delicate wash<\/li>\n<li>Bucket of water with a hand inside: Hand wash<\/li>\n<li>Bucket of water with an X through it: Do not wash<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Bleach Laundry Symbol<\/h3>\n<p>A triangle represents the bleach laundry symbol. Your care label will have one of the following symbols explaining how to bleach it correctly:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Triangle: Any bleach<\/li>\n<li>Triangle with two lines within: Only non-chlorine bleach<\/li>\n<li>Solid triangle with an X through it: Do not bleach<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Drying Laundry Symbol<\/h3>\n<p>A square represents the drying laundry symbol. Your care label will have one of the following symbols explaining how to dry it correctly:<\/p>\n<p>1. Tumble Dry Cycles:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Square with a circle inside: Normal cycle<\/li>\n<li>Square with a circle inside and one line under: Permanent press cycle<\/li>\n<li>Square with a circle inside and two lines under: Delicate cycle<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>2. Tumble Dry Settings (These refer to the circle within the square above):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Circle: Any heat<\/li>\n<li>Circle with one dot: Low Heat<\/li>\n<li>Circle with two dots: Medium heat<\/li>\n<li>Circle with three dots: High heat<\/li>\n<li>Solid circle: No heat, air only<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>3. Air Dry Symbols:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Square with an arch at the top: Line dry<\/li>\n<li>Square with three vertical lines in the center: Drip dry<\/li>\n<li>Square with one horizontal line: Dry flat<\/li>\n<li>Square with two lines in the top right corner: Added to one of the top three symbols and means to dry in the shade<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Ironing Laundry Symbol<\/h3>\n<p>The iron laundry symbol is shaped like an actual iron. Your care label will have one of the following symbols explaining how to iron it correctly:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Iron with one dot: Low heat<\/li>\n<li>Iron with two dots: Medium heat<\/li>\n<li>Iron with three dots: High heat<\/li>\n<li>Iron with an X through it: Do not Iron<\/li>\n<li>Iron with an X under it: No steam<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Dry Clean Laundry Symbol<\/h3>\n<p>A circle represents the dry clean laundry symbol.
